"Avoid oppressing the one who does not have any supporter against you, other than the Almighty Allah." - Imam Husain (as)
Last night, I realized something. People find pleasure in being mean to other people who are different from them and everyone else. Okay maybe I didn't just realize this, but I've just contemplated how truly screwed up it is.
It repulses me to see a so-called hardcore “Hussaini” not live his or her life with the principles Imam Husain taught us. Don’t call yourself a lover or follower of Imam Husain if you’re going to go around calling people demeaning, petty, names behind their back—especially if the victim is doing nothing more than trying to come closer to Allah.
As a result, I am ashamed and saddened for ever hurting someone's feelings with my words or actions. I am deeply apologetic to any individual who has personally taken offense to anything I may have expressed intentionally or unintentionally.
It's wrong to expose someone, when Allah has concealed the worst flaws in you.
"..the one who says unpleasant things about others will soon become a target of their scandal." - Imam Ali (AS)
Yeah, people can be such jerks. Especially those "different" ones you're referring to.
ReplyDeleteJudging by the date you posted this, "last night" would be referring to New Years Eve. Just out of curiosity, what exactly happened that night which led you to realize this?!
Out of the many things I fear in this world, it is not seeking the forgiveness to whose who I have hurt. Islam has taught me a lot about forgiveness, even the Imams forgave their enemies after all the sinister things they did because it was not in them to stop another from getting closer to Allah no matter how corrupt or bad they were.
ReplyDeleteIs it not our duty to emulate the actions of our Imams?
love the analysis through spiritual lens. i hope you keep writing!
